Beacon Health Options of Pennsylvania – Important Training Opportunity for Beacon Health Options of Pennsylvania Providers and Their Billing Personnel

Please note: The March 1st training session is now full. However, two additional sessions have been added – March 10 and March 14. Please view the updated training schedule in the link below for more information and how to register.

Effective March 1, 2022, Beacon Health Options (“Beacon”) will be transitioning to the Availity Essentials Provider Portal; this includes Beacon Health Options of Pennsylvania.

Availity Essentials will become the preferred portal for verifying eligibility and benefits, claim status and other secure transactions for Beacon. To prepare for this transition, Availity Essentials will be hosting Beacon provider and support staff training sessions. During these training sessions, Availity Essentials will cover topics such as eligibility, benefits and claims submission. Four live sessions are offered and will be recorded and available for playback if you are unable to participate.

In-network providers should have received an E-Communication from Beacon with the details. Beacon wants to support this communication for the Pennsylvania Medicaid market (Beacon Health Options of Pennsylvania) as well. Please see the E-Communication below about the Availity Essential Training.

Availity Essentials Required Provider Training

As a reminder, providers must have an existing Availity account in order to register for the training. If a provider does not have an existing Availity account and does not wish to sign up for an account, they will not be able to register for a training session. For providers who do not wish to sign up for an Availity account, there will be a recording of the provider training session available on the Availity Essentials Provider Resources page by mid-March 2022.

Beacon Health Options of Pennsylvania – Important Information about Availity Essentials and ProviderConnect for Current Beacon Health Options of Pennsylvania Providers

Beacon thanks providers for their attention to the communications regarding Availity Essentials over the past several months. Beacon Health Options has offered the option of a one-stop, multi-payer claims portal and clearinghouse with the intent of improving the provider experience with its current capabilities and development potential for its increased functionality in the future.

Beacon realizes that their existing providers have had a positive experience with ProviderConnect over the years. Please know that while new providers will be instructed to use Availity (https://www.availity.com/) as it is the preferred claims portal and clearinghouse for Beacon Health Options as of March 1, 2022, existing Beacon Health Options of Pennsylvania providers still have the ability to use ProviderConnect as they learn more about the capabilities and functionalities of Availity Essentials.

For those of who’ve begun to submit claims through Availity Essentials, Beacon transactions are available at no charge.

Trainings are still available. There is a requirement to create an account and register in order to sign up for a training. Please know an on-demand option will be available in late March after the provider trainings have been conducted; it will not require an account or registration. A recording of the training will be posted on the Availity Essentials Provider Resources page on the Beacon Health Options website. Beacon of Pennsylvania will advise its providers once the training is posted with a link to that resource. In addition, they plan to develop a Pennsylvania-specific resources based on the feedback they have received.

As always, Beacon values their partnership with providers as they navigate change. If you have questions, please contact your Provider Field Coordinator or visit the Availity Essentials Provider Resources page
