Beacon Health Options of Pennsylvania – Provider Self-Audits
As a reminder and per the DHS Provider Self-Audit Protocol defined in Medical Assistance Bulletin #99-02-13, effective 12/02/2002, providers are responsible to have compliance programs that monitor and audit for potential fraud and abuse. Provider self-audits are an effective tool in detecting potential fraud, waste and abuse issues and providers are encouraged to complete self-audits in accordance to your compliance plan. Beacon Health Options of Pennsylvania – New Training Available
Beacon’s Interactive Fraud, Waste and Abuse Training is available on https://pa.beaconhealthoptions.com/fraud-waste-and-abuse/ under Trainings. This training will guide you through fraud, waste and abuse related materials and scenarios that can be completed at your own convenience. At the end of the training you have an option to print a certificate of completion for this course. Please be aware Beacon is unable to track participation so please print the certificate and maintain for your records.
Beacon Health Options of Pennsylvania – Updated Covered Services Grid
The Beacon Health Options of Pennsylvania’s Covered Services Grid has been updated effective December 1, 2021. This grid lists all the service classes, modifiers, and service codes for authorizations and billing purposes. Changes/updates are highlighted in orange.

PerformCare – Mental Health Inpatient Effective Discharge and After Care Planning
PerformCare issued notice MH IP 21 101: MH IP Effective Discharge and After Care Planning (PDF) to provide recommendations for effective discharge planning for members.
PerformCare recommends that providers:
- Use PerformCare’s Online Provider Directory to locate mental health outpatient and medication management providers located in the member’s county or living area.
- Adopt the principles of the Re-Engineered Discharge (RED) protocol.
