The Rules Don’t Apply to Me!

This workshop provides strategies that promote and strengthen resiliency in children and families who experience adverse events in their lives.  Multiple researched-based resiliency frameworks and models will be provided to assess risk and protective factors, along with practical ways to integrate resiliency-building techniques during interactions with children and their families. 

Learning Objectives

· Recognize risk factors for the development of disruptive behaviors and learn how to interrupt the escalation of disruptive behaviors

· Implement a five-step process to respond to opposition and defiance

· Successfully interrupt anger escalation

· Develop a plan for holding children accountable for their disruptive behaviors and address skill-building to minimize the frequency with which the disruptive behaviors occur

· Learn how to implement effective home/school collaboration techniques
