Secondary Trauma and Self Care: Digging Deeper

Child welfare workers are vulnerable to experiencing secondary traumatic stress due to their role in supporting kinship, foster, and adoptive families. You will learn how to recognize the signs of secondary traumatic stress using self-assessment, as well as concrete strategies to help manage vicarious trauma.

Learning Objectives:

· Participants will deepen their knowledge and awareness of the signs of Secondary Traumatic Stress (STS) on themselves and within their professional domains.

· Participants will learn to use a tool, the ProQol to help measure and manage STS.

· Participants will gain knowledge and skills to balance their own STS and self-care needs with the needs of the group.

· Participants will gain knowledge of Critical Success Analysis and how it can be adapted to deepen supportive connections.
