Rebounding from Adversity: Facilitating Resilience

Participants will learn strategies that promote and strengthen resiliency in children and families who experience adverse events in their lives. Multiple researched-based resiliency frameworks and models will be provided to assess risk and protective factors, along with practical ways to integrate resiliency-building techniques during interactions with children and their families.

Learning Objectives

· Define past and current research on the impact of childhood adverse events and resilient outcomes.

· Recognize traits of resiliency in children, families, schools and communities.

· Utilize an array of asset model assessment tools during case planning and collaboration meetings.

· Identify current level of functioning in relation to resiliency models and frameworks.

· Implement home and school strategies to build resiliency.

· Utilize asset-building approaches during family conferences and interactions.
