Postpartum Depression: An Informative Overview

Are you supporting new or soon to be mothers? Mothers of any age can experience postpartum depression (PPD) which can present similar to other depression symptoms and is the most common medical complication of childbirth. PPD is estimated to affect 10% to 20% of women in the US after childbirth – up to 1 in every 5 new mothers. As professionals we need to be aware of the signs and symptoms and address accordingly, while helping to reduce the stigma and resistance to acknowledging this condition.
