Motivational Interviewing Level 2: Beyond the Basics

Level 1 workshops offer the opportunity to experience and learn about the skills, spirit and process of Motivational Interviewing (MI). Learning and application of MI is complex and relies on continued opportunities to observe, practice, and receive feedback.

AUDIENCE: For those who have learned and are using the fundamentals of MI and want to enhance and improve their skills. Workshop will be interactive and highlight demonstrations and practice exercises.

Learners should be able to:

• Identify, elicit, and shape change talk

• Use simple coding to evaluate sample MI conversations from video and partner experiences

• Reflect on own MI skills and provide feedback as observer to peers.

• Identify personal next steps for continuing to enhance MI skills
