CBH has released the Provider Bulletin: Place of Service 02 and Modifier 95 for Telehealth Service Delivery. This Bulletin is to inform providers that, with the issuance of the Department of Human Services, Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) Bulletin OMHSAS-21-09 titled “Guidelines for the Delivery of Behavioral Health Services Through Telehealth,” the Place of Service (POS) 02 Telehealth has been added along with the procedure code modifier 95 to denote when the service is provided by telephone only.

Effective January 1, 2022, providers who are billing for a telehealth service must include the POS 02 and append procedure code modifier 95 to the claim to indicate if the service was delivered via telephone or audio only.

Community Behavioral Health (CBH) – Provider Bulletin 12-17: Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Code Change from 99201 to 99202

CBH has released the Provider Bulletin: Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Code Change from 99201 to 99202. This Bulletin is to inform providers that OMHSAS has revised and published its Behavioral Health Services Reporting Classification Chart (BHSRCC), which eliminates the use of CPT code 99201. This change is mandatory; therefore, CBH will retire CPT code 99201 effective December 29, 2021.

For dates of service on or after December 30, 2021, CBH will replace 99201 with 99202. CBH will revise and release updated provider contracts (Schedule A) reflecting the change in coding.
