PCCYFS Supports Statewide Workforce Study

The Center for Rural Pennsylvania released a legislative brief, A Comparative Analysis of Job Satisfaction and Intent to Leave Among Rural and Urban Caseworkers in Pennsylvania’s Child Welfare Agencies by Dr. Yoon Mi Kim, Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, Department of Social Work; George Kovarie, Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, Department of Social Work; Soohyoung Rain Lee, Yeshiva University, Wurzweiler School of Social Work.

The report summarized findings from a statewide survey of Pennsylvania child welfare caseworkers, aimed at identifying factors influencing job satisfaction, performance, and intent to leave. The survey was conducted in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Children and Youth Administrators (PCYA) and the Pennsylvania Council of Children, Youth and Family Services (PCCYFS). Findings noted potential differences emerged between rural and urban caseworkers, related to caseload size, court responsibilities, turnover, and other factors.
